Our mission is to empower our children to change the world!
Our vision is not only about the future. We give young people the opportunity to tackle today’s most critical issues and encourage them to become the next generation of compassionate leaders, entrepreneurs, and philanthropists. Through Team Kids’ youth-led, school- and community-based service programs, thousands of participants learn about leadership, teamwork, empathy and making healthy choices for themselves and others in real-world situations.
Team Kids programs focus on building positive assets for youth, and also protects against harmful behaviors, such as substance use, gang involvement, and delinquent activity. Bringing together stakeholders from education, government, public safety, and business, we have the potential to secure successful outcomes for our youngest citizens across the nation. Together, our communities can support the healthy development of our kids, encourage youth’s positive efforts and empower America’s future.

Nearly five decades ago, the Irvine Unified School District was founded by forward-thinking educators who settled for nothing short of world-class schools and choices for parents. While times and technologies have changed, our core objective remains the same: to provide the highest quality educational experience we can envision.
IUSD is fortunate to serve a community that truly understands the importance of education. Our PTA members volunteer hundreds of thousands of hours each year, and our parents nurture learning at home by setting aside time for their children to read and study. Meanwhile, we have tremendous partners that fill critical gaps and enhance our programs.

Starting with a crisis hotline, four pioneering women conceived Human Options in 1981 because they believed that the women and children of Orange County deserved to live violence-free lives. Their desire evolved into a groundbreaking perspective: relationship violence threatens everyone in Orange County. Nearly four decades later, we continue to ignite social change by leading collective county-wide responses in service of those affected by abuse. Ultimately, we are empowering every person and family in Orange County to experience lives free from fear.

One of the fastest growing segments of the homeless population is working families with children struggling to make ends meet. The high cost of basic living, including rent, transportation and childcare, coupled with the significant lack of affordable housing, puts many families at risk. More than 28,000 school-age children are homeless or housing-insecure. These are the families we see every day.

The Irvine CubeSat STEM Program (ICSP) is a joint educational endeavor to teach, train and inspire the next generation of STEM professionals. It is comprised of students from six different high schools in the City of Irvine whose main objective is to assemble, test and launch a nano-satellite into low Earth orbit. By working on this project, students develop and practice STEM skills in technical documentation and communication, project management, hardware and software, mechanical and electrical subsystems, programming, radio and optical communications, and data analysis. Students are selected by a competitive application process including completing documentation and participating in an in-person interview. Students agree to a year-long commitment in order to complete the mission.
